From the death of King George V1 on 6th February 1952 the then Princess Elizabeth became our Queen (Elizabeth II) at the young age of 27 years.
Some other items of news from that year included.
4000 deaths in London due in part to dense smog (pea soupers) Mother Teresa opens 1st home for the dying and destitute in Calcutta.
The Mau Mau Rebellion – Fighting starts in this year in an attempt to end British rule in Kenya. The diary of Anne Frank is published in English for the first time. (previously Dutch)

During the past 70 years the world has changed in numerous ways for us all, some good, some not so much. Spray painting has only been in real operation since the middle of the last century, for about the same amount of time as the Queen has been on the throne.
Although the early origins of spray paint stems from the 1890’s what we recognise as modern spray paint would not come about until the middle of the 20th century when in 1949 Edward Seymore would be the first to use a pressurized aerosol container to rapidly apply paint.
While this was firstly used for quite simple tasks, spraying walls etc and was seen by many as a novelty product over the years it was recognised as being an important “Tool”.
Today it creates home improvements, touch ups, re-vamps, even beautiful art.
In simple terms, at SPRAYCO SURFACE COATING we can create a finish of your choice on virtually any surface.
So if you fancy a piece of “ PATRIOTIC PLATINUM “ for the Jubilee Give us a shout We’re here to help out.
Although technically a grass, bamboo is fast becoming a viable option and great alternative to traditional timber. At present almost NINETY types (out of an impressive 1,500 species) are used for building and construction.
Producing a hard, wood – like fibre, bamboo is a versatile and sustainable choice for everything from window blinds to luxury furniture and a great deal in between !
A Few Important Bamboo Facts -
As a Timeline Comparison –
As the older more established plants grow faster, the MOST sustainable forest can take seven to ten years to produce the highest quality timber, but then every year the same thereafter.
With regard to colour, if the surface is prepared properly bamboo takes colour well with spray giving a much superior finish to brush on.
Here at SPRAYCO SURFACE COATING our ethos is RE-CYCLE. UP-CYCLE. RE-SPRAY. Add this to using a highly sustainable product like bamboo and it’s a double whammy !
EVERYONE’S A WINNER !!!
In the world today we are all aware of the decline of natural resources.
The fate of the worlds forests’ is in jeopardy if overlogging continues, this in turn means numerous species face extinction and our carbon emissions will increase at an alarming rate.
We can all try to do “our bit” however small, re-cycling, creating less waste, as the saying goes “EVERY LITTLE HELPS”.
Think of your home or workspace and the wood or wood by-products they contain. If they have seen better days, looking tired, a bit battered, or you just fancy a change. - Instead of throwing away and creating more waste why not let us give them a little TLC and a whole new lease of life.
Whether it be lacquer, or colour – an almost infinite choice of shades is available here at SPRAYCO SURFACE COATING.

DON’T THROW AWAY.
RE- CYCLE TODAY.
While we all understand the meaning of Easter in the Christian calendar is to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus, this has not always been the case.
Easter was originally a Pagan festival celebrating renewal and rebirth. It was celebrated in the early spring and honoured the Pagan Saxon goddess Eastre.
We still adhere to some of these traditions today, “spring cleaning” “redecorating” etc. With this in mind maybe its time to think about a fresh look for your space. This could be anything from a splash of vibrant colour, daffodil yellow or bright orange perhaps !
If something more subtle is your “thing” we would suggest that your wood can be given a new lease of life with a spray lacquer, any sheen is available creating warmth and depth and bringing out all the wonderful tones that natural timber has to offer.
Whether it be –
Spring Lamb - Easter Chocs - or a Splash of Paint -
This is NOT the time to show Restraint.

Can you use metal paint in a sprayer ?
Short answer – YES YOU CAN !
Preparation as always is the key – the surface needs to be smooth, clean and dry, and an appropriate undercoat / basecoat used.
It is usual to use oil based metal paint, however water based can occasionally be used.
Spraying metal paint onto metal seems an obvious choice, but WOOD and MDF are great recipients, and done correctly will look like solid metal when finished.
Textured or flat finishes can be created.
As an idea – copper or bronze skirting boards and architrave look particularly effective combined with worksurfaces and accent touches in your modern industrial kitchen.

From legend red roses came from the blood of Adonis and these roses in turn were bestowed on Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love.
This is perhaps why red is associated with love, prosperity, luck and happiness. This is particularly true of Chinese culture where red is highly valued.
Love, Passion, Wealth, Power, Strength, and Desire are all strong emotions which are associated with the colour red.
On Valentine’s day red is everywhere, Cupids, Hearts, Roses, Ribbons, Cards, Toys, Wine, Chocolate, the list is extensive – much like the different shades available.
With over 20 shades of red in the colour palette, there is something for everyone.
